Passengers Say Thank You!
Volunteer Serena P. encountered a passenger sitting on the floor of Terminal B, crying because she could not remember where her car was parked. Just returning from a family emergency flight home, the woman was emotional and exhausted. Serena spotted the words “Daily Parking” on the parking ticket and kindly accompanied her to P4. To find the car, they clicked the remote on the fob in hopes of setting off the emergency alarm. After several attempts, finally the car was found. Now calmed, the woman smiled when she learned Serena’s name. It was the same name as her mother, who had just passed away. She called Serena “an angel” and was beyond grateful for such kind help.
“I was floored …”
“My 17-year-old daughter was on the last leg of a trip of her young life coming into Newark from Spain on July 13. Her connecting flight from Newark to Richmond was cancelled and my wife and I started to freak out when we could not get a hold of her to let her know what was up since she has never traveled like this alone before.
I called everyone with no success and eventually found the Travelers Aid number and called hoping to find someone who could help.
I explained the situation to Christian and was surprised that, along with all the other pertinent questions, he asked what she looked like. I asked if he were going there to look himself. He said yes!
I was floored that a complete stranger was willing to help like that. Later, my daughter told me that he found her via the PA system and let her know that “your father” took care of everything with the rebooked flight and made sure she was okay.
You don’t hear stuff like this anymore and it is reassuring to know there are caring people like Christian Havens out there and services like Travelers Aid.
Big thanks, Christian!”

“…a HUGE thank you…”
“At the start of April, I made my first visit to the United States. On arriving at Newark airport late on Saturday evening, April 1, I was unable to locate my car service or use my mobile phone to contact them.
I was rescued by one of your team on duty, an incredibly kind and patient lady named Judith.
I am sorry it has taken so long for me to write to say a HUGE thank you to TA and especially to Judith who handled everything with the brightest of smiles. I appreciate it was not the end of the world and that many people encounter much larger problems when travelling, but I was travelling alone and the farthest from home I have ever travelled before, and to have Judith offer to help and give a few kind words, show an interest in me personally, and not let me go until she was satisfied everything was resolved was hugely appreciated by me.
So THANK YOU Judith, the first person I met in America, and you set the bar high I must say. What could have been a frustrating and panic filled first few moments of my trip was soon swept aside by your kindness, professionalism and great humour. Too often in the world we are quick to criticise and not to appreciate and celebrate those who help and make things better, and this is what you did for me. Thank you.
All best wishes to you and thank you again, Travellers Aid.
“Your service was impeccable.”
“Thank you so much for going the extra mile last week and finding Josh’s phone. It made life so much easier for him and he really appreciates your effort. (So do I.) Your service was impeccable.”
“…a blessing at such a traumatic time…”
“Hello, I would like to thank and acknowledge Travelers Aid who assisted my sister at Newark Liberty on Monday, January 25. My sister just arrived from Manchester UK to find her United flight to Dulles was cancelled, due to the blizzard, and she’d have to stay overnight in NJ. She was ill and on the verge of passing out, and needed assistance in reserving a hotel. I reside and Maryland and called the Travelers Aid number listed on your website. They asked for my sister’s cell number and assured me they would find her and offer assistance, and they did! Travelers Aid was a blessing at such a traumatic time for our family and we can’t thank you enough. Thank you as well as PANYNJ for offering this service and employing such caring individuals”
