You Can Make a Difference. Volunteer Today.
Volunteers are at the heart of Travelers Aid and they are located across the country in airports, bus terminals and train stations.
Stationed at our 14 information desks, Travelers Aid volunteers welcome visitors, provide travel and tourist information and work to solve a range of travel challenges, from the basic to the very complex. This can include anything from simple way-finding to explaining the metro subway system to assisting travelers in crisis. Each day is always different!
Our desks are staffed seven days a week, 365 days a year. Monday – Friday shifts are available 7am – 10am, 10am – 2pm, 2pm -6pm and 6pm – 9pm. Saturday-Sunday shifts are available 8am – 12noon, 12noon – 4pm and 4pm – 8pm. We of course will work with you to find the right fit for you.
To join our team of over 200 experienced volunteers, we ask that you join us for an interview, attend a new volunteer orientation, and complete the necessary training, including fingerprinting and a background check for an airport ID. Please apply online here or send an email/call volunteer@mwaa.com 703.572.7350.
We will be in touch with you shortly with next steps. We look forward to welcoming you to the Travelers Aid Dulles team!

“No two days are the same. I have a new opportunity to learn every shift.”
“What I like the most about volunteering is at the end of the day, whether I’ve helped 20 people or 100 people, I feel like I’ve really made a difference for folks.“
“I feel sometimes our questions are difficult and complicated, other times we fill in a knowledge gap such as where are the restrooms or how do I get to my hotel, But sometimes we are just meant to be listeners with open hearts. And a happy ending is something we can all use.”
“As I tell everyone who asks, there is no better job than one where you can tell people “where to go” all day and they thank you for it . Learn everything you can about the airport so you can provide the maximum assistance possible. Learn from other volunteers who have a wealth of information to provide you. Enjoy every minute of what you are doing and make every traveler’s experience the most satisfactory it can possibly be.”
